Scott Tipping has been on the Chicago music scene since the late 90’s. He has been associated with a number of Chicago groups that have toured nationally like The Mighty Blue Kings, Backyard Tire Fire and Cornmeal. Throughout his travels he has been honored to share the stage with such luminaries as Buddy Guy, Los Lobos, ZZ Top, Ben Harper, Charlie Musselwhite, The Wailers, Huey Lewis and The Tedschi Trucks Band.
His current project, The Leland Bluebird Sessions Volume 1 was a labor of love producing/playing and paying tribute to the historic blues recordings created at The Leland Tower in Aurora, Illinois. The compilation features contributions from Robbie Fulks, Nora O’Connor and a vast array of Chicago luminaries. This year also marks the release of Peter Himmelman’s new record, There Is No Calamity produced by Steve Berlin from Los Lobos. Scott played guitar on the album and is currently touring behind it.
Specialties are blues and rock and roll. Scott’s influences range from Magic Sam, Albert King to Dickey Betts, Jimmy Page and Sonny Sharrock. He loves getting a change to share his experiences, play guitar and help others find their voice. He’s beyond elated to be working with such a creative school as Wire and is looking forward to putting his specialties to work.
