LIVE CONCERT PRODUCTION: Level I

Two Hour Group Class, Meets Once a Week for 6 weeks

For students 12 to 18 years old who are interested in learning the skills to handle the exciting jobs that take place behind the scenes of every live concert. From running sound, lights and promotion to stage setup and microphone techniques, this course will set you on the path to produce and run a successful live show.

Students learn introductory level skills to:

  • run a live sound board
  • operate a lighting board
  • design a light show
  • set up a stage
  • use professional microphone techniques
  • control the monitor and main speakers
  • record a live performance
  • book and market a live engagement

At the conclusion of the course, students will become assistant production managers for school recitals and concerts on WIRE’s Main Stage. Along with a faculty advisor they will assist in all aspects of executing a successful concert. The most effective and fun way to get great working experience and learn very valuable, enjoyable and marketable skills.


Introduction to PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT: Level I

For students 18+ who are interested in learning the highly marketable skills of the music industry. Whether it is running sound, operating lights, or booking and promoting artists, there are real world jobs available to properly trained individuals who want to turn their hobbies and passions into their career.                                    

In our Professional Live Production class students learn the basic level skills to:

  • run a live soundboard
  • operate a lighting board
  • design a light show
  • set up a stage
  • use professional microphone techniques
  • place and control the monitor and main speakers
  • record a live performance
  • design a marketing plan which incorporates a social media strategy and basic artist management tools to successfully promote & publicize a live concert

Throughout the course, students will become interns for world class touring acts at WIRE’s performance facility. They will assist production managers in every aspect of actual professional shows and get real world experience while making real world business connections that they can transfer directly to the marketplace. If you have always wanted to work in the music industry and want a beginner’s guide to a number of skills and jobs, this is the course for you.


LIVE SOUND REINFORCEMENT CLASS: Level I

Two Hour Group Class, Meets Once a week for 6 weeks

For student of all ages who are interested in learning the art of running live sound. This is a beginner’s course and no prior experience or knowledge is required.                                                    

In our Live Sound Reinforcement class students learn the skills to:

  • run a live soundboard
  • stage set up
  • use professional microphone techniques
  • place and control the monitor and main speakers
  • record a live performance                                               

All WIRE students have the opportunity to gain real world, hands-on experience by assisting our house sound engineers on our MainStage during recitals, concerts and professional shows.


LIVE VIDEO TECHNIQUES

An overview of video production and its applications to live music performance, marketing, promotion and the latest in live stream technology. 

Enrolled students will have the opportunity to learn in a hands-on environment, pursue a personal project mentored by the staff and take part in professional productions. 

The class is presented by Coffee Cup Productions, an award winning Production Company with decades of experience in the music and advertising industries. They will also be drawing from their partners and network of dedicated professional artists.

For students who are interested in beginning or enhancing their songwriting skills and compositional techniques. Whether you have written hundreds of songs and have professional aspirations, or have yet to write one song but have always had a strong interest, this class gives you the feedback, tools and opportunities you need to realize your songwriting potential.

In our songwriting and composition classes students:

  • get feedback on their original material and hear other performers singing their original song
  • learn new techniques for composition, song form and lyrics
  • learn arranging techniques in different styles and instrumentation
  • learn how to present your song to a band in lead sheet and/or notated score
  • learn basic music theory
  • learn how to setup and administer a Music Publishing Company
  • learn techniques for promoting and distributing original songs

Our songwriting classes culminate, after 2 sessions have been completed, with the class performing or hearing their songs performed live in concert. We strive to help develop the singular voice and artistic expression of each writer while also studying styles and great writers of the past in order to enhance your own techniques and ideas. At the conclusion of the course each student will have the working knowledge to create and run their own music publishing company and original, developed material to take to the marketplace.

For students ages 18+ who wish to learn the skills and craft necessary to enter the marketplace as a professional voice over artist. 

In our voice over techniques class students will: 

• Learn how to interpret and act commercial scripts 

• Work on commercial announcer and narration scripts 

• Work on Animation and gaming scripts 

• Learn industry tricks for working quickly and professionally 

• Use recording software to audition at home or on the go. 

• Learn how to market yourself to land an agent or the next job

Each student will end the course with samples of commercial material recorded in a professional studio that they can use to solicit employment, and that may be included in a professional demo.

VOICE OVER TECHNIQUES


2 Hour Class, Meets Once a Week

For students of all ages who would like to learn the fine art of DJ and beat creation/production.

Introductory class will cover:

• Equipment Setup 

• Counting Music (4-counts, bars, song structure) 

• Basic DJ Mechanics (scratching, cueing) 

• Serato DJ (setup/library/usability) 

• Execute a Mix 

• Live Sound Settings (setup/communication)

At the completion of 2 sessions (12 two hour lessons) students will host a dance party for the school and show off their live DJ skills on WIRE’s main stage.

A class for 18+ part-time passionate hobbyists and semi-pro enthusiasts looking for a place to play, a community to connect with, and an opportunity to exchange ideas, performances, interests and talents while keeping their spirit of rock and roll alive. In our grad school, adults get the chance to develop their favorite material with a faculty member and a group of like minded souls. They get to perform on the WIRE Stage, they get treated to fine beer tastings and music film/listening parties, and they get access to special guest artists. There is no better place than Grad School for our adults in the community who still remember they were “Born to Run.”
