For students who are interested in beginning or enhancing their songwriting skills and compositional techniques. Whether you have written hundreds of songs and have professional aspirations, or have yet to write one song but have always had a strong interest, this class gives you the feedback, tools and opportunities you need to realize your songwriting potential.

In our songwriting and composition classes students:

  • get feedback on their original material and hear other performers singing their original song
  • learn new techniques for composition, song form and lyrics
  • learn arranging techniques in different styles and instrumentation
  • learn how to present your song to a band in lead sheet and/or notated score
  • learn basic music theory
  • learn how to setup and administer a Music Publishing Company
  • learn techniques for promoting and distributing original songs

Our songwriting classes culminate, after 2 sessions have been completed, with the class performing or hearing their songs performed live in concert. We strive to help develop the singular voice and artistic expression of each writer while also studying styles and great writers of the past in order to enhance your own techniques and ideas. At the conclusion of the course each student will have the working knowledge to create and run their own music publishing company and original, developed material to take to the marketplace.
